SkynetCountdown is an independent monitoring initiative dedicated to tracking the trajectory of artificial intelligence development and the associated control risks.
Our mission is to provide transparent, data-driven insights into AI progress and to raise awareness about both the opportunities and challenges of advanced artificial intelligence.
What We Do
SkynetCountdown continuously analyzes news and developments in the AI industry to assess and predict the following key indicators:
- Control Loss Probability: The estimated chance that AI could escape human control, calculated as a percentage based on ongoing developments.
- AGI Progress: The percentage of progress toward Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) achievement, based on current research and breakthroughs.
- Projected Control Loss Date: Our data-driven prediction of when AI might exceed human control capabilities.
- Projected AGI Achievement Date: The estimated timeline for when Artificial General Intelligence might be realized.
Our Methodology
The index is fully automated: AI news is ingested every 10 minutes, scored by an LLM on four impact axes, and converted to capped daily index moves through fixed, published formulas. Who We Are
SkynetCountdown was created and is maintained by Pavel Volkov — a fullstack developer building and running a fleet of web products (SEO-driven content platforms, AI tools and gaming media), shipping the full cycle solo: product, code, infrastructure and analytics.
